Our New House

So here is a very quick update. We went to the island this weekend to candidate and it went very well. We both gave our testimonies and Tony Preached. The response from the church was so great! They will be having the "affirmation" vote on Monday! Pray that they make the right decision. From the people we talked to, it sounds like they are all rooting for us:)

While we were there we took the liberty of looking at some real estate. Gotta be ready to go and have a place to go to! So there were two whole houses for sale in our price range and in the area we want to live in. They were the same age, but one had been remodeled and the other was basically original, decorated in the 80's. The offer we made on the first one was Xed by a full price offer the same weekend, so we put an offer on the other one. We figure, we can do a little reno...no a big reno, and make it look pretty darn good. So Monday we offered $220,000 on their list price of $234,900 They countered with $230,000 last night and this morning we countered with $227,000 and they accepted really fast! So it looks like we have a house! We will be moving the second last weekend of March if the vote goes well, but we won't have possession till the 30th. We have been offered a place to house sit for April, and since we'll have to put our stuff into storage for a week anyway, we figure we'll just leave our stuff stored while we renovate. Our agent estimated that we could fix the place up pretty good for $10,000 in materials. We've already been offered a bunch of help with the labour, so this'll end up great! If you want to see the place it's on http://mls.ca/ search for Courtenay North, and put $200,000 as your starting price. Here's a pic of the front.Or try this link to the slide show. http://www.royallepagemc.ca/22419/101738/ Tony drew this up today. His ideas for the front are: extending the entrance way to allow for more people to come in at once, and put in larger windows so they are all the size of the living room window, and add a hip roof along the right side for dry access to the garage, with stairs maybe coming out the right side of the porch, along the house.

I'll post pics of the fun we had with Jon and Lisa and kids when they send me the pics they took(I forgot my camera on our trip)

WOW!!! You GUYS!!! This is excitingly crazy! This is great!!
Zach has already been asking when we get to "take the ferry-boat to Black Creek to visit Malachi".
Congrats on your new home too! (I've said it before, and I'll say it again: "never a dull moment in the Janzen's world!")

We MUST get together soon- in spite of the busyness of both our worlds!

love Tanya

BC Box eh! the nice thing about them is that I'll know where the bathroom is the first time I come without asking! There's plenty of other cool stuff too--especially those countertops--I guess they got them from our old house on Merryfield. Looking forward to seeing you guys again!
