Self Defense

In response to the abduction here in Armstrong, our church has partnered with the local Karate DoJo, to offer a self defense class for the community, free. The Sensei there, is the brother of one of our elders and was more than happy to help us out. Tonight was the first of two. It was great. We had about 20 people, mostly kids, who came out. There was a lot of information, and it would take a long time and practice for the moves we were shown to become second nature, but we at least know how to get away. That's the point right. We don't need to stay and fight with a perp. Just get out of his hold. In two weeks we will be learning how to get away if you are already on ground. Rowan had a great time too. He has asked for years already if he could take Karate. The rates here are really quite reasonable. $20 a month, 2 hour classes twice a week. We'll think about it for the fall for Rowan and Quin, maybe Tony and I will go too. Poor Malachi isn't old enough for anything yet. I want to get him involved with a moms and tots program. He still has another year till 4yr old preschool.
