The death toll is rising in our yard. We have a large wading pool set up on our deck. So far Four squirrels have fallen in. Three have drowned. Yesterday I heard one splashing about in the pool at 6:00am and went out side to save it. I threw a towel over the edge so it could get some grip with it's claws. It escaped. This morning We found another one in there, Dead. We're draining to pool now. Again.
The other death toll is also raising. No Cloudy hasn't caught any mice yet. We have now drowned 7 mice in a bucket trap in our garage, and caught 2 in a traditional trap inside our cutlery drawer. Tony's dad caught tones of mice in a bucket trap when Tony was a kid, and it's working for us here. He poked holes in either end of a pop can, and suspended it over the top of the bucket on a wire. He spread peanut butter around the can and placed a board as a ramp up to the top of the bucket. When the mice come to get the peanut butter the can turns, and they slip into the water in the bucket and drown. I took pics but the wouldn't up load today. Maybe that's better since maybe you don't want to see dead mice and squirrels...
Cloudy has been very playful lately. She's definitely more comfortable and settling in. She has been jumping up into my lap. With jeans on it's all good cause she can use her claws without hurting me. Yesterday, I was wearing shorts. Yeah, now I have four stripes running across my leg. Ouch!
