I just recently finished reading Your God is Too Safe by Mark Buchannan. Great book. It really challenges the blahs of being a Christian, especially if you have been one for a long time. One of the paragraphs that really caught my attention is this bit about joy.
"God is full of Joy. Jesus if full of joy. His desire is to have His joy in you and for that joy to be complete. Paul commands you to rejoice and to be joyful always. Those who don't know how to rejoice and resent everyone else doing it are the Pharisees and their gang. And the one person dead set against your joy is the devil.
So what are we going to do about it?
I say we party.
The discipline of joy, the discipline of partying is a holy habit of celebration. It's a discipline because true celebration is deciding purposefully to rejoice and making every effort to do so. Celebration is the practice of lifting our eyes from our preoccupation with all the work we have to do and the trouble we're in and the money we owe and the reputation we strive to keep- to lift our eyes from all that and set them on things above (241,242,emphasis mine)."
The last bit caught my attention because I was worrying about all those things that day...most days. Another thing Buchannan says is that God is always ready to break out the BBQ and have a party. I love that. I want to be ready to party, and do it often! Who's with me? Come on over!

I'll come! I want to BBQ!!
Hope you're doing well, thinking about you lots.
M-hm! When? BYOB? (or decaf pop?) I can relate to your worries of late. It's a terrible "pit" to feel lost in. I have litteraly had moments in my day where I have had to WILL myself to pick a worship CD, pop it in and sing out-loud of my faith/trust/peace in God to convince my heart of the promises I have chosen to stand on. This is warfare... and blasting music? Well, that just adds to the party!!
love Tanya
